MaxTrax
If you're starting out in HO slotcars and want to have your own track, seriously consider this option. If you want super smooth racing with low track maintenance and extended car life, the cost is easy to justify... well, at least to yourself and other racers. Your spouse is another story.

Painting lexan bodies
Yeah, I know it's an RC site but lexan is lexan, right? This site has some paint jobs to die for and instructions on how to get them. It's all in getting the right paint... and a steady hand... and a good eye for graphics... Um, maybe you should just go see for yourself.

If you find that magnet cars don't offer realism or give you the "drive by the seat of your pants" feel, you might want to checkout 1/32nd scale racing. The racing is just as intense and the larger scale offers room for higher detail in both the cars and scenery. Be warned though, not having magnets to hold the cars on the track demands that you exercise a lot more finesse in your driving.

HO Monster Trucks
After building a monster truck, a pull sled, and a pull truck from the info on this site, I can't decide if this is real racing or a just novelty party gag. If anyone in the Vancouver (BC) area decides to build any of these and is interested in racing them, please contact Darryl. If there is enough interest, it might be possible to set something up.
