I live in Illinois. A very fun place, with a lot of vegetation. So I live close to the Morton Arboretum (
http://www.mortonarb.org/), and last time I was there, I realized how cool it would be if they closed early and let paintballers in. Shortly after, the PhOG went into coma and so it's been cooking in my head for two days now, and the idea's developed quite a lot. First, there would have to be posters made a few weeks before the event to spread the word. A new sport in a familiar setting may attract non-paintballers, so we could set up safety demonstrations, explanations on the sport, try-out booths, and companies like CCI and CCM could bring a large stock of items to get new people into the sport. We would probably need some kind of air-filling machine, and I figure that if the event is big enough, the arboretum would be able to collect enough entrance fees to compensate for closing the place for two or three days. It may not be a good idea to let in semi players (because pump is better, and there would be a lot more staining). What got me thinking initially is this little section where there is a big hedge maze, and next to it is an elevated clearing with a lot of trees. Think of the games you can have just here. One team can be in the tower in the middle of the maze, and the other on the hill, and then it's a huge game of capture the flag. There's a lot of other places which would be great for paintball games, and then the end could be a gigantic fight between two teams. Of course, before anything would happen we would need permission from the arboretum, but when I asked the local park district they said that it's possible to get permission to have a paintball game in a park. The Arboretum isn't part of the park district, although I imagine they work the same way. We could maybe offer to then do volunteer work

. I imagine they would also get a lot of profit through their cafe. So whaddaya think?
